Sunday Night Theology is designed to provide extended time of Bible teaching as well as talks about current issues that should be addressed by the church of Jesus Christ. The Journey Church will provide excellent resources and work to bring some of the finest speakers here to our church as both a ministry to our members as well as an outreach to our community. These are occasions when you can invite others who might not otherwise come to a church to come and listen to our Sunday evening talks.

Upcoming SNT Talks:

What Church History Can Teach Us About Science and Faith — Few issues are more vexing in the church today than challenges to the Christian view of creation from modern science. Does Genesis 1 square with what science suggests about the age of the universe? Are the Adam and Eve of Genesis 2-3 historical figures? Are they the first human beings, and the progenitors of all modern human beings? How should Christian respond to claims from scientific claims with discernment, humility, graciousness, and faithfulness to the gospel?

Church history is not the first place people tend to look for help in these areas. Yet we are not the first ones to struggle with these issues, and we can learn from the labors of our forebearers in the faith. In this SNT talk, we will explore what we can learn from church history on science-faith issues, particularly from the writings of one of the most influential theologians of the early church, St. Augustine. St. Augustine will help us think about the doctrine of creation in a broader context, approach it with humility, and understand it in light of Scripture. This SNT talk will be led by the a research fellow from the Carl F.H. Henry Center for Theological Understanding at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Dr. Gavin Ortlund, on Sunday, April 29, 2018
