Sunday Night Theology is designed to provide extended time of Bible teaching as well as talks about current issues that should be addressed by the church of Jesus Christ. The Journey Church will provide excellent resources and work to bring some of the finest speakers here to our church as both a ministry to our members as well as an outreach to our community. These are occasions when you can invite others who might not otherwise come to a church to come and listen to our Sunday evening talks.

Upcoming SNT Talks:

The Gospel According to Matthew — Jesus appears in the Gospel of Matthew as the Messiah of Israel, the king who will rule and save the world, the Teacher greater than Moses, the Son of Man, and the Son of God giving his life for his chosen people. Matthew’s Gospel reveals the wisdom of the gospel message itself as the new way of life that results from it as disciples discover truth through special encounters with Jesus. Matthew accomplishes more than merely sharing stories of the life of Jesus. He is an artist and theologian - a theological artist and an artistic theologian. To read this Gospel well requires close attention as to how the parts and the whole fit together. In this SNT, the overall structure of the Gospel According to Matthew will be examined as well as key theological themes to help succinctly state the main point(s) of the Gospel that inevitably leads to personal application of its teaching in daily life. This SNT talk will be lead by Dr. Raymond Johnson on Sunday, May 27, 2018.

Reformation Worship: Why We Do What We Do in Church — When the Reformers recovered the gospel, they also recovered the worship of God. The gospel and worship are like two sides of the one coin, and you can’t have one without the other. Each of the magisterial reformers wrote a church liturgy to aid God’s people in their embrace of the gospel. They did not just preach the gospel; they also allowed the gospel to shape the form of public worship. Come along and find out how. This SNT talk will be lead by Dr. Jonathan Gibson, author of Reformation Worship: Liturgies From the Past For the Present on Sunday, September 30, 2018.
