We Wish to See Jesus
I was recently speaking on a Sunday morning from John 12:20-26. I had planned to speak on Jesus' words beginning in verse 23. However, as I read John 12:21 it grabbed my attention and honestly has held my attention for the past couple of weeks. What a simple phrase... "we wish to see Jesus", but is that the way we live our lives? Do we make that a priority? Do we take time to see Jesus on a regular basis?
What would life look like if we awoke each morning and prayed those simple words and meant it? Can you imagine the difference in our attitude, patience, stress throughout the day?
We get so wrapped up in appointments, meetings to attend, projects at work and home that have to get done that we fail to make Jesus a priority in our lives. That is what our whole "Obsessed" series is about... being obsessed with Jesus and the difference that makes in our lives. I think it can be summarized in that simple phrase "we wish to see Jesus."
But what if we didn't just "see" Jesus but took Him with us to those appointment, meetings, projects, etc? We are called to be on mission with Him and represent Him in our world where we live, work and play. What if you also "showed" Jesus to others you come in contact with each day? Not only would our attitude, patience and stress be changed, but we would infect the places we go with the love of God. That is what it means to be on mission with Jesus and to live a missional life.
Join me in committing to start each morning with the wish of seeing Jesus and then showing Him to others we come in contact with throughout the day.
